A Sartrean Life
Sartre holds that ââ¬Å"existence goes before substance. â⬠A person is just what the individual wills to be. Sartre accepts that we are characterized by what we do. We are what we decide to do. Existentialism isn't a simple idea to clarify, and Sartre concurred. He summarized existentialism as presence goes before substance. What does that truly mean? Sartre clarified it utilizing the similarity of the paper shaper. He said that a craftsman whose motivation originated from an idea made the paper shaper. The craftsman alluded to the idea of what a paper shaper was and made it with a known strategy for creation (some portion of the idea of the shaper) with a daily practice. The paper shaper was delivered a specific route making on certain utilization for it. Subsequently, the pith (the pre-creation goal and technique for creation) preceded the genuine presence of the paper shaper, its aim and plan for creation was at that point decided. Existentialism is something contrary to this. On the off chance that it were existentialism, the shaper would have been made aimlessly secretly the purpose of it until the craftsman decided an aim for the shaper after its creation. Following this line of thought, I wind up in a circumstance where there would be no depression at all since all the expectation lies in ones self. I characterize myself and my motivation in my life and I at that point assume liability for my decision by experienced my self-decided reason. . The preeminent excellence of existentialism is extreme decision. This can possibly have been acquired in the event that I am consistent with myself. I likewise need to assume liability for my own activities since I pick my own activities and should live with the results. I can pick what I become and need to live with it, yet I can transform it to make a superior fit on the off chance that I figured my decision wasn't thoroughly right. Despite the fact that Sartreââ¬â¢s theory has numerous favorable circumstances and it assembles itself on the conviction that we make our own decisions and we are answerable for ourselves. I accept that numerous individuals won't take the test or pull out in dread of the obligation. This happens in light of the fact that its absolutely impossible for the individuals to know without a doubt that the decision they make as their meaning of themselves is right. This makes a dread in numerous individuals, a dread of being off-base and a dread that being off-base could prompt their end. Sartre conceded there was a lot of anguish in taking the existential test in light of the fact that there was no chance to get of realizing one was correct. Sartre's recommendation to the suspicious was to be human, stick to ones self, and simply trust in the best. This was where existentialism approached the slight line between reasoning in religion on the grounds that to take this test, individuals needed to have a faith in themselves so as to stay with their decisions. Existentialism got a lot of analysis since it was for the most part agnostic, yet in addition in light of the ethics it made. As a matter of fact, the ethics were not made by existentialism, however by existentialists. They made their own ethics and qualities to conform to picking their own motivations throughout everyday life. The importance of their lives legitimately resembled the qualities picked, in certainty Sartre believed that the qualities picked is the thing that ones significance of life depended on. This thought was emphatically reprimanded by numerous individuals since they expected this could make turmoil. On the off chance that everybody made their own qualities, there would be no set laws where to comply. Sartre expressed that ones still, small voice would have the option to decide among good and bad; and that one could tell if their decision of activity served a foul play to someone else. Many were exceptionally wary of this, in any case; expecting that, for instance, retreating from an understanding was satisfactory to a few, however would not be worthy to other people. Taking everything into account, in spite of the enormous measure of analysis, Sartre was broadly followed and viewed profoundly by many. He could bolster his thoughts with reason and rationale. These thoughts spoke to a lot of individuals in view of the conditions they were in. The planning of Sartre was a piece of what made such a huge after. Since forever, change and the accompanying of new and here and there radical thoughts came directly after a huge catastrophe where individuals were left in despair searching for trust. In the event that there is one thing to recollect about existentialism it is that presence goes before embodiment. In the event that one is an existentialist or not: one escapes life what one places in; the importance of our lives comes not from what occurs in our lives, yet what we do in them; and all of us are entertainers on the phase of life. All things being equal, Sartre said all that needed to be said when he remarked, ââ¬Å"Man is incorporated by his own reality and there is no exit. ââ¬Å"

How Expensive Should Your Wedding Be
How Expensive Should Your Wedding Be How Expensive Should Your Wedding Be? How Expensive Should Your Wedding Be?How much you spend on your wedding is ultimately up to you and your spouseâ"and it all depends on what you two think is important.Getting married is supposed to be a day full of nothing but joy, but many married couples will tell you that their happiness at being wed was accompanied by a great deal of stress. And while some of those stresses fall outside the purview of this humble personal finance blogâ"like, say, 30 years of family drama coming to a head during the appetizers courseâ"the financial stress of getting married is one that weâre happy to comment on.While getting hitched is actually fairly cheap, throwing a wedding is often quite expensive. But does it have to be? The short answer is no. The longer answer: It doesnât have to be, and you shouldnât feel the pressure to have an expensive wedding âjust because.â While you donât need to skip a wedding altogether and elope to avoid paying a lot of money for your special day, i t helps to have some guidelines in place to avoid spending too much.So how expensive should your wedding be? It depends. It really does. We reached out to a number of wedding and personal finance experts to get their advice and analysis into the costs of getting hitched, and how you can make sure that the price tag for your ceremony matches both your financial means and your overall priorities. What does your wedding need to be?Katherine Frost is the owner of Denver-based wedding event planning company A Frosted Affair (@afrostedaffair), and she said that clients are often surprised by her usual answer regarding how expensive a wedding should beâ"because it has very little to do with money.âWeddings are a public event about a private thing, â said Frost. âTraditionally, they are our societys way of legitimizing a relationship and presenting the couple for the communitys acceptance. So, fundamentally, the couple has to ask themselves how much is that worth to them?ââTher e is any number of websites that will tell you what the average wedding costs are, but in the history of wedding planning, no one has ever said, âI want an average wedding,â she continued. âMore than anything, couples want an event that expresses their personality and makes their guests fall in love with them. A wedding should cost as much as that requires.ââCouples that dont give a hoot about anyone elses thoughts on their choice in partner, can usually have a lovely affair for $3,00 to $10,000 that includes everything that makes a warm, welcoming event.ââFor some families, however, the wedding is more than just presenting a couple to the community.â explained Frost. âIt is the family reunion, the business or client event, and the opportunity to be the talk of the town. The sky is the limit in these instances. I have planned $250K luxury weddings that were stunning in every aspect and they achieved more for the family than just getting the offspring hitched.âSo, how expensive should your wedding be? According to Frost: âAs expensive as the couples need for community acceptance and the familys need for a memorable, positive community experience.âWhat are your wedding priorities?âYou can use data about the average costs of weddings only as a benchmark because the average numbers donât tell the whole story,â said Kevin Begola, owner of Titanium Buzz (@TitaniumBuzz) mens wedding bands store. In fact, the cost of weddings can vary significantly depending on where couples get married.âMaking recommendations on how expensive a wedding should be can be tricky because different couples prioritize different aspects of wedding and spend money differently. Traditional wedding expenses include a lot of items, but each wedding is unique and you donât have to spend money on traditions that donât matter to you.âBegolaâs general advice simple: âYou should customize your budget to fit your needs and ensure that wedding spending aligns with your income, regular expenses, and other financial goals. You donât want to start your married life together in debt from going out of control with your wedding.âRegardless of your budget, Begola emphasized that you shouldnât spend money on things that you donât think are important.âWhen planning your big day, you can choose three areas that are at the most important to you, focus on them, and let everything else come together afterward,â he said. âIf you are on a tight budget, there are some things that may not be worth your money, like favors or paper invitations, so you can skip them. ââBesides, you can lower costs by being flexible about certain factors,â he added. âWeekday weddings for some venues are typically less expensive so you will pay approximately 10 percent to 20 percent less if you decide to have a Thursday night wedding. Renting a venue off-season can save you about 25 percent. Hiring a DJ instead of a full band could probably save you abo ut 50 percent or so.âAre you asking the right questions?Ramsey Preferred Financial Coach Christian Stewart Barnes of Do Better Financial emphasized that you and your spouse should be realistic when calculating your wedding budget. âMoney doesnt just materialize, and credit card bills will come due,â she said. Barnes went on to provide some guidelines to help brides and grooms-to-be identify whats truly important to them:âHow long do you want to be engaged? If you are in your early 20s or already living together, waiting a year or two to tie the knot might be an option for you. It will give you, or your family, an opportunity to save more money, become educated on all your options, and take your time working out the details.ââWho will be paying? This might seem straightforward, but money makes people act strangely. Traditionally the brides family pays for the wedding, while the grooms family pays for the rehearsal dinner, but what about engagement parties, bridal showers , or same-sex couples? You both need to discuss how much financial support, if any, each of your families will contribute and talk about payment details. Will they pay for a specific item, like a cake or dress, write you a blank check, or reimburse you on the back end? Having clarity on this issue is essential to creating a wedding budget that will work for you.ââHow much are you willing to DIY? Doing things yourself has become more popular with the advent of Instagram and Pinterest, but DIY doesnt equal free. The searching, planning, and execution of these ideas takes time and money. You might spend less money on the item, but lose a few nights and weekends instead.âTo illustrate how these considerations work in a practical manner, Barnes shared this example from her own wedding held last October:âWe are both in our early 30s and did not want a long engagement. We started planning assuming only our income was available to fund the celebration and figured out how much we cou ld squeeze out of our respective budgets each month. We used this number as our base budget and assigned percentages based on what was important to us, and worked overtime for anything that didnt fit,â she said.âWe both work full time, run businesses, as well as volunteer with our church, so DIY projects (outside of planning the event itself) werent something we wanted to shove into an already crowded schedule. I originally wanted to get married in a church and travel to the reception venue, but after looking at pricing we decided a room flip would be more time and cost effective, as well as simplify the logistics.âPictures and music were also important, so we spent more in those areas than things like flowers and decor, and chose to skip the rehearsal dinner,â Barnes added. âWe did have family and friends gift us with things like bustling, dance lessons, and the cake, which allowed us to direct our hard earned dollars toward other things on our nice-to-have list, like add ing a few last minute guests.âIf you are able to answer these questions for yourselfâ"while being realistic about what you can afford and how much you can saveâ"you should have a wedding that fits well within your budget.Breaking down your typical wedding budget. When youâre building a household budget, itâs good to have an idea of how much money you should be spending on any one category. For instance, itâs a good bet that housing costsâ"like rent or mortgage paymentsâ"will take up a much larger portion of your budget than, say, the amount of money youâre spending each month on dining out.The same holds true for weddings. And while some general costs remained fixed, sorting out your own wedding priorities will help you determine how much you should be budgeting for other elements. The more you know what you want, the more accurate your budget will be.âThe cost of any wedding always depends on a multitude of factors,â explained Anna Bessonowa, Director of Operations for Magic Day Luxury Experiences (@magicday). âYou can avoid spending too much money for your wedding by sorting your expenses by whatâs most important for you.Based on her experience, Bessonowa went on to break down what a typical wedding budget looks like and the most commonly seen distribution of costs:âThe most expensive cost item is the venueâ"at exceptional venues, you sometimes need to pay venue rental prices and, in some cases, extra fees for the space rent for the ceremony. This usually takes around 20 percent of the overall wedding budget,â she began.âCatering is another important item of your budget. You can choose a three or a four-course menu, add cocktail hours, coffee times, or snack barsâ"everything is calculated according to the number of your guests. The catering also makes about 20 percent of the wedding budget.âPhotography and videography are really important chunks of the sum as well. The expenses for these services are usually 10 percent for eac h category, depending on the vendors and their packages.âThe other 40 percent of the wedding budget can be distributed among the remaining categories with the largest part usually being allocated to flowers and decorations (eight percent), music and entertainment (eight percent), dress and attire (eight percent),â she continued.Beauty services (makeup, hair, and nails), stationery (invitations, table cards, seating charts), gifts and favors for the guests see around 16 percent allocated to them. You should also add expenses for the guest transfers in case of a destination wedding, and wedding planner services if you decide to plan your big day with a professional.âAnd finally, Bessowa recommended that your wedding include some form of emergency fund:âWe also recommend leaving some financial resources for the emergency and backup plans (three to five percent of your wedding budget) and to always have a significant amount of cash at easy reach during the wedding day.âGo fo rth and get married.Weddings are meant to special days. Accepted: First, can you tell us a little about yourself ââ¬â where are you from, where did you go to college and when did you graduate; and what prior degrees do you hold? Asax: I am an Indian female applicant. My dream school is Berkeley Haas. I am also applying for NUS and NTU (since theyââ¬â¢re near). I hold a Bachelor of Engineering from a state university. I am currently working for an IT company just like a million others here ;). I have work experience of 2.5 years. I graduated in the yearà 2009. Besides having an IT background, I also run a family start-up side by side ââ¬â though I am not involved full time. It is my post MBA plan to do so. Accepted: When do you plan on applying to b-school? What stage of the application process are you up to now? Asax: I am preparing for my second GMAT in September and I am looking forward to round 2 applications. Accepted: What sort of GMAT prep have you done since taking the exam the first time? Asax: Focused more on verbal. I realized I didnââ¬â¢t attack the basics last time. I was concerned about volume last time not the quality. This time, I am focusing on the quality ââ¬â lots of time for solving a very few questions and analyzing them. I find this is a better method. Even though it takes time, the learning curve is much better. Accepted: What do you think of the new IR section? Asax: Truth be said, I am not a fan of the IR section as it requires different kind of preparation and approach. Each problem looks at myriad types of data interpretation. Till now I havent been able to complete the section on time. So, you go to work on that. Thankfully this is the first year. I might escape from the scrutiny of the IR section scores. We cant bet that for the next year though. Accepted: What is your dream MBA program?à Asax: Berkeley Haas is my dream school because I would like to get a good feel for the spirit of American entrepreneurship which I can do at Haas with its very close ties with Silicone Valley and the entrepreneurs there. Besides, Haas is very well known for beating the status quo ââ¬â a kind of environment I would like to get used to. The batch strength is not great, thus there is scope for better ties among the graduates. Accepted: What attracts you to Haas? Asax: I am inspired by the culture and the mix of ideas that the graduates and professors bring to the b-school experience. I believe that the culture of thinking different has to become natural. For such a habit to be cultured, to me Haas is the perfect place. Accepted: Once you receive your MBA, do you plan on pursuing a career in your current field/industry or a in new field/industry? Asax: Once I get my MBA, my plan is to take on my family start-up full time. The reason I took my current IT job was because I got one and because it was easy money. Though after 2.5 years, I have realized that I want to focus on bigger dreams of mine. Accepted: Can you tell us about your blog? Who is your target audience and what goals do you have with site? Asax: My blog is a log of my experiences, something others can use to fine tune things that they may miss out. I also blog about things happening in the MBA world, about freebies, webinars, strategies, guides, discounts available in various sites ââ¬â anything an applicant needs to know. The Yellow Wallpaper By Charlotte Perkins Gilman - 871 Words
In 1892, a short story by the name of ââ¬Å"The Yellow Wallpaperâ⬠was written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, a well-known author and feminist of the late 19th century. The story was initially inspired by her personal experiences and the actions that followed after. Although the story was correlated to actual events, many of the scenes described in ââ¬Å"The Yellow Wallpaperâ⬠prove to be exaggerated in comparison to the authorââ¬â¢s experience. Similarly, the author and narrator of the story (who goes by no name) both suffer from the same condition known as neurasthenia, misconstrued to be identical to hysteria. The story was created in spite to denounce the treatments prescribed to her, as well as to personify the misogynistic influence that lead to these treatments that pertained to women. Gilman represents the feminist position being oppressed by the swift judgements of their male counterparts to highlight the negligent idea that created such unusual treatments. One major influence to the short story was the aforementioned condition known as neurasthenia. It was first identified in the early 19th century and became a popular diagnosis primarily among women of that time. It was characterized with symptoms that included weakness, irritability, dizziness, and fainting, as well as emotional instability. An ancestor to this condition was another well-known, women associated diagnosis, Hysteria. Does Technology Affects Culture or Does Culture Affect...
Culture is the unique set of beliefs, behaviors, and way of life of a group of people. Our culture, according to many, is undergoing a steady increase in the culture gap, and for the most part, their main target when seeking whom to blame is technology. Our culture drives us to pursue success and pleasure, complete tasks efficiently, and contemplate how to improve the lives of the generations to come and ourselves. These elements of our culture, these demands, the majority, are fulfilled by technology. In Robert Solomonââ¬â¢s essay, Culture Gives Us a Sense of Who We Are, he states ââ¬Å"We are becoming a culture without a culture, lacking fixed points of reference and a shared vocabularyâ⬠and that ââ¬Å" ââ¬ËTelevision cultureââ¬â¢ is no culture at allâ⬠â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Speaking on the cultural values of humility and simplicity held by Hindus and Muslims, Dr. Genevieve Bell is quoted describing how ââ¬Å" ââ¬ËIf part of the value of the home i s this space of purity thats protected from the pollutedness of the worldâ⬠¦that becomes a barrier to adopting some technologiesââ¬â¢ (Erard). So, culture limits what technologies thrive, and technology must then adapt itself to the cultural values of these people, to meet their cultural demands. Notice that in both situations, the technologies are adapted, tailored to the cultures of each group of people, meaning that the culture is intact, unchanged by the new development because the technology was made to fit in. Going back to our culture, the fight for Aââ¬â¢s and the competition to get into top universities in order to have a successful life, is a major part of it and this drive to succeed has also led to the implementation of new technologies. The education system demands a great deal from students and this workload has pushed people around the world to start producing guides like Spark Notes and The Princeton Review, as well many other tools, such as Google. These technologies allow for ââ¬Å"research that once required days in the stacks or periodical rooms of librariesâ⬠¦[to] be done in minutesâ⬠(Carr). Achieving as much as possible is part of the way of lifeShow MoreRelatedCulture Vs.
